Contempt Defense

Violation of a court order is a "criminal" offense!

In family law, parties are often charged with failure to pay support or a violation of restraining orders. These "criminal transgressions" are usually prosecuted by the spouse claiming the violation.

Most convictions carry a sentence of five days in jail for each count (five days in jail for each support payment missed).

Because of the specialized nature of family law contempt proceedings, our offices defend these matters instead of referring them to criminal defense counsel.
